The Safety Team is dedicated to offering programs that are cutting edge, research-based, effective, and responsive to the voices and needs of women. With the support from workshop fees, donations and grants, we have developed an evidenced-based empowerment self-defense program for college women called Project WISE (Women Inspiring Safety and Empowerment). The primary objective of WISE is to foster young women’s sense of empowerment and ability to make proactive choices regarding their own safety. This program builds a supportive network of women who will help change the culture to one that respects women and their right to be safe.
Our Future Goals
- Expand our workshop offerings so they become sustainable. This will include future “training the trainer” programs.
- Create “Safety Team” chapters on college campuses and other organizations.
- Spread awareness of consent through education and “yes means yes” legislation.
- Develop female empowerment through volunteer and internship programs, in addition to other types of outreach.
